Embrace

A photographic love letter to the ocean

I miss the ocean all the time.
I spent my childhood 1000 kilometers away from the sea.
The first time I saw the ocean, I realized that it was my true home.

When my family arrived at a rented summer house by the sea, with all  suitcases still unopened, a little girl ran towards the ocean to meet her dear friend and whisper all her secrets.

“Embrace” is a photographic love letter to the ocean, an invitation to you to feel the connection with this element,  and through it -  to yourself.

We are born of the ocean. There exists a deep relationship between the ocean and humans. The Mammalian dive reflex slows our heart rate the second we put our face in water. The ocean has an immediate and great impact on us, our bodies and our senses. It shapes our inner and outer landscape. Humans receive healing from the ocean, physical and mental improvement is documented by today’s research, but the ocean is vulnerable to devastation inflicted by the same humans who benefit from it. This project aims to engage with viewer and rebuild the human connection to the ocean, that occupies 71 percent of Earth’s surface and is essential to all breathing life on Earth. In the context of the silence of the whales who stopped singing and major decline in human connection to nature, I create my love letter to the ocean to inspire people to care for it.
