Weronika Nitsch (born 1981) is a photographer and filmmaker based in Bergen
who creates stories about people’s connection to each other and nature.

With her roots in Poland, she touches upon topics of belonging, empathy, interconnectedness and healing. Her personal touch combining documentary, art and advocacy makes her projects lyrical, compassionate and engaging.

Nitsch’s movie «Bjarne Hates the Camera», where the artist calls for empathy and presence, became a festival’s favourite in 2018, and garnered her international recognition with a personal story about a growing friendship between strangers.

Inspired by her childhood summers at the seaside and her freediving practice, she created the dummy “Embrace”, a lover letter to the ocean, aiming to strengthen the bond between people and the nature in the moment when the ocean needs urgent protection. Images from this project earned her the title of International Talent by Fresh Eyes, GUP Magazine and 2nd Prize in Landscape in the SUGi x NAVA Photography Contest 2025.

She graduated from Norwegian School of Photography (Masterclass), received MA in Dramaturgy (2007) and Media Practices (2020).

She is working on her first photobook “Embrace” and is available for commissions worldwide.
